Using Social Media to Enhance Learning:
Opportunities and challenges in opening your classroom to the world

Speaker: Sherry Nouraini

Keeping them engaged and awake, and assessing if they were listening and learning.  These are challenges faced by all training and development professionals, especially when they have to make a non-intuitive but important subject transferrable.  In this workshop, I will share with you how incorporating Twitter in teaching provided an opportunity for engaging and involving students, as well as gaining insight into their learning outcomes.  However, being a public platform, using Twitter and other social networking tools may bring privacy challenges. You will learn how to incorporate the tools of social media into your training curriculum in a way that is effective and sensitive to privacy concerns of your audience.

In this digital age, more and more training and development is delivered online, which brings challenges in building a relationship with and engaging the students.  I will share how I use Twitter and video conferencing to connect with my online students, and provide feedback on their projects.  You will leave this workshop, armed with tips to bring the world safely into your classroom.
