ATD San Diego Board of Directors Elections

The following candidates have applied for the current open Board positions, and have been approved by the Nominating Committee.  The Board of Directors requests that you support their candidacy to become Directors and Chapter Leaders beginning January 1st, 2020.

All Directors are elected for two-year terms with the following exceptions:

The President-Elect serves three years total, beginning as President-Elect, then becoming President, and serving the third year as Past President.

A vote of Yes means you support the election of the candidate to fill the position.
A vote of No means you do not support the election of the candidate to fill the position.

In the event a candidate does not receive enough Yes votes to accept the position, it falls to the Board of Directors to select and vote on a replacement candidate.

The candidates' biographies are included below.

The poll will open from September 3, 2019 to October 4, 2019.

Thank you!

Board Candidates

Bridget Randall - Candidate for President Elect
My passion for Learning and Development stems from my zeal to develop individuals to progress in their careers. I've been afforded the opportunity to create and redesign programs in both for profit and non-profit sectors. At the end of the day I hope to leave everything that I touch a little bit better than it was when I arrived.

Norma Hernandez - Candidate for CFO
I currently serve as the Director of Operations & Organizational Development for a large private, non-profit community organization. My background includes operations & administration, business management, human resources and organizational development. It is my joy to strategize with individuals, groups and programs to achieve and sustain their maximum potential. The rest of my time is spent with my family, traveling, attending local and regional concerts and cultural events. I’m an avid life-learner, an animal-lover and support development and the humane and ethical treatment of all living creatures.

Gwen Franco - Candidate for Programs Director
I have worked for Hyatt Hotels for 12 years in Human Resources at various hotels throughout Orange County and San Diego. I’ve been in my current role as Area Learning & Development Manager for 2 years, focused on training and leadership development for 6 hotels. I studied Philosophy at the University of La Verne and am currently working towards my CPLP certification.

Tom Velasquez - Candidate for Technology Director
I started my professional career by enlisting in the Marine Corps. I worked as a Legal Services Support Specialist. In addition to working in the legal field I deployed twice to the Middle East. After being promoted to Corporal, and then to Sergeant, I was responsible for developing and leading Marines during their career. I left the Marines in 2002 and continued my public service at the District Attorney's Office for the County of San Diego. While I was a paralegal at the District Attorney's Office, I joined the DA's Office Paralegal Training Advisory Committee (PTAC). As part of the Committee, I was responsible for working with my colleagues to develop and deliver training to paralegal community and the office. After volunteering with ATD San Diego and working the 2018 conference, I became more interested in transitioning into the Learning and Development and supporting people who want to grow in their career and leadership capabilities.

The poll will open from September 3, 2019 to October 4, 2019.
