About the Provider:

Mary Kay Lahay, M.A. Owner

LAHAY & ASSOCIATES

Mary Kay Lahay worked in the Instructional Design and Adult Training and Development world for over thirty years. Her background includes a BA in Clinical Psychology, an MA in Counseling, years of work in the clinical / counseling field. She also completed multiple post-graduate courses in Adult Learning, Instructional Design, Executive Coaching, Conflict Negotiation, and many more. Clients of Lahay & Associates have included many public agencies such as Caltrans (all twelve statewide Districts), the CA Departments of Conservation, CA Dept. of Health & Human Services statewide, CA Recycling Program, SDG&E and countless other City, County, and State Agencies. Private sector clients include Halliburton Geophysical Services and Siemens Corp. in three countries, Aspect Telecommunications, Schumacher Carlsbad, and many other great companies.

Mary Kay’s exceptional skills in instructional design and in executive coaching produced 90% of the courses Lahay & Associates delivered to L&A clients. Mary Kay and the L&A faculty believed strongly in applying adult learning theory to every single course they created and/or taught. Therefore, each course provided participants with the following elements:  (1) why should I learn this skill set? (2) how will I use it, (3) each competency taught broken down step-by-step, (4)the competency (e.g. coaching or strategic planning or conflict negotiation) modeled by instructors. These course elements were followed by structured skill practice and feedback by adult learners in groups of three. Courses ended with a discussion of where the targeted core competencies could / should be used in the real world and (4) an action plan for use of the skill set back on the job. Detailed Instructor Guides were also created for most courses to ensure consistent delivery quality across all L&A training consultants. ALL of our business was  “word of mouth” based on how our graduates described their learning experiences with L&A.

It is the both rich and practical nature of our approach to adult learning that earned Lahay & Assoc. continued repeat business and increasing word-of-mouth clients in the US and multiple other countries. We taught and coached clients in the areas of Conflict Negotiation, Coaching, Big Picture Thinking Succession Planning, and other core leadership skills. Most of our courses have been documented in the form of detailed Participant and Instructor Guides that can easily be used by other skilled and seasoned training and leadership development consultants.
