Trainers as Agents of Change

Heraclitus, an ancient Greek philosopher is credited as saying, “The only constant in life is change… All things pass and nothing stays.” That was true some 1500 years ago and it is true today. Our volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous world forces companies to adapt, become agile, and build internal capacities to better “manage change.”

Unfortunately, the data show that over 70% of change efforts fail to achieve their intended goals. There are many reasons, too many to mention here, but one of them is seldom mentioned at all. In fact, it seldom reaches consciousness. What is that? Training’s role in change interventions. Everyone knows, expects, and understands that training must be a part of change projects, so much so that is axiomatic.

My question is, “Do trainers understand the change process, how transitions affect people, and how they can maximize their knowledge and skills to help their organizations obtain optimum results?”

That’s what this overview workshop is designed to do, provide trainers with information that can help them leverage their unique talents to increase the effectiveness of change projects. It’s not about becoming better trainers. It’s about becoming better change agents.

Participants will learn:

  • The different kinds of change interventions and the type of training that is best suited for each.
  • The difference between ADDIE and how change agents gather data to plan their interventions.
  • The difference between a Trainer’s Mindset and the Mindset of a Change Agent.
  • Steps a Trainer can take to improve the results of change interventions.
