Volunteer Opportunities

ATD San Diego is successful because of our many amazing volunteers. For many years, volunteers have demonstrated a strong commitment to the San Diego Chapter by graciously contributing their time, talents, and resources.

Volunteering provides greater networking opportunities, deeper relationships with members, and a chance for professional development.

Volunteer Awards

We love all our volunteers.  Without them, we couldn't accomplish our mission of building a world-class learning and development community.  Some of our volunteers show an extra level of dedication that inspires everyone around them.  So every month we recognize one extraordinary volunteer - and the hardest part of this is selecting just one person each month!

Tino Bautista

Constantine “Tino” Bautista is currently the Mentor-Protégé  Program Coordinator and has been a member at large of ATD–SD for many years, including serving on the board in the past.

Tino explains: “I know there is always an opportunity to volunteer and give back- to our profession and our ATD family. It's become a very symbiotic-mutualism type of relationship for lack of a better term, where I benefit by having another outlet to serve, nurture and mentor, and the chapter benefits, too.”

Tino took the reins of the Mentor program this year and has been running it flawlessly and enthusiastically, maintaining its stellar qualities.  Asked about the unexpected benefits of being a volunteer Tino offered:  “To come full circle and really impact an area that started my relationship with ATD over a decade ago, our award winning Mentor Protégé Program.  In the process so far, I've reconnected with old standing relationships and started new ones. Ahh, the circle of ATD life.;-)”

Please congratulate Tino for his outstanding contribution!

Alissa Johnston came in and hit the ground running! Her very first act as a new member was to assist at the registration table at a chapter meeting. The Board is certainly appreciative of Alissa's willingness to step in when help was needed - as our great organization relies on wonderful volunteers. But we're even more excited to have a new member join us who is as passionate about Talent Development as we are!

Welcome Alissa, and thank you for your assistance.

Thank you, Mike, for your hard work and continued support of ATD San Diego!”

The PEAK awards are an important event for us - we're proud of the companies who choose to apply, and we're always impressed with the quality and depth of their work and their commitment to what they do. So it's very important to us that we have a committee and a committee chair who are as committed to the process as the companies who apply, and who will make the event the success it deserves to be.
Please join me in thanking Bryan, our 2013 PEAK Committee Chair, for his hard work in making this a great event!
April
Meshell Zwicker

Meshell is a member of our Membership Team, and has been instrumental in working to make our Human Performance Alliance (HPA) meetings a success. As a participant in other "sister" organizations, she's reached out to connect with them and invite their members to attend the HPA events - and she has been a vibrant, engaging host at several of the meetings.

We appreciate Meshell's outgoing energy and commitment to helping people and organizations grow into their potential.
 May
Shannon Hoolihan

Shannon Hoolihan, our Chapter Office Manager, isn't a volunteer - but she truly is an integral part of our organization who deserves recognition. Patiently answering questions, responding to Board members' requests for immediate help, making sure the ongoing day-to-day administrivia is attended to, Shannon is always willing to help.

As a Board member, I know how many times I've relied on her experience with the Chapter, yet I also suspect that we as a Board don't always appreciate her as much as we should.

So, Shannon, here's to you:  thank you so much for all you do!
June
Carollyn Rock

Carollyn began her volunteer journey on our Programs Committee; you may have met her at the Chapter meeting registration table, or as part of the team at last month's Ultimate HR Marketplace.

When she heard we needed help with Technology, she jumped right in.  Our website, event, and membership management tools aren't always the most intuitive (what complex system is?), and she's been terrific at digging in, learning, and just quietly getting things done.

We appreciate Carollyn's responsive help so much that we've talked her into applying for Technology Director on the 2014 Board of Directors - so we'll all be seeing more of her and continuing t orely on her.

In the meantime, please join me in thanking Carollyn for her expertise and willingness!

February
Amy Osback

Amy joined the Programs team early in 2013, and is currently Registration Manager, overseeing a committee of volunteers who assist with registration at our monthly Chapter meetings.  One of the many things we appreciate about Amy is how she consistently looks for ways to do things more effectively and efficiently.

With her strong work ethic and attention to detail, Amy is a huge asset to our Programs team and a joy to work with!
